Mandarin International School (BMIS) is the premiere International School in Thailand teaching the full Chinese National Curriculum incorporating the progressive Rising STEAM programme, key elements of the English National Curriculum, and offering internationally recognised academic qualifications.

BMIS provides an education that is recognised and approved by the Office of the Private Education Committee of the Ministry of Education of Thailand. BMIS delivers Mandarin Chinese, English, and Thai immersive language learning, with lessons for both native and non-native speakers of these languages.

The BMIS programme is recognised by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China as appropriate for the delivery of Chinese learning in an international setting.

Mr. Jiali Li
Chinese Director

With teaching service in Thai Elementary, Junior High and Senior High Schools, brings more than 13 years’ experience as a Chinese Director of schools and nine years as a Chinese School Principal. Mr. Jiali’s educational service includes eleven consecutive years of organization for the Chinese Proficiency Test (YCT and HSK) for more than 1000 students each year, and the accolade of “Thailand Model Teacher of the Year” awarded in 2020.

Ms. Rose Tscheikuna
School Director

Brings extensive experience and expertise in school curriculum planning and school management to the BMIS Senior Leadership Team. In an educational career that has spanned teaching through to founding School Director, Ms. Rose Tscheikuna has received recognition and awards from the Office of the Private Education Commission (OPEC) and other educational organizations for her dedication to the development of student-based educational systems within Thailand. Ms. Rose Tscheikuna’s experience will strongly contribute to BMIS developing its own unique nature within the international school community.

Mr. Steven Armstrong
Headmaster

Brings extensive educational experience from the UK government and independent school sectors; from primary schools, secondary schools and as a specialist in all-age provision, in day schools and as a boarding-house master, and more than twenty years of school leadership and management experience as a Headmaster in both UK and overseas schools.

Mr. Jiali Li
Chinese Director

TEACHING TEAM

BMIS provides a world class teaching faculty recruited both locally and from around the world. All of our teachers are native speakers of the language that they
teach in. Regardless of where our teachers and support staff are from, they share four important characteristics:

In bringing together the best of traditional and innovative learning from the East and the West, British Mandarin International School (BMIS) offers a specialized programme that seamlessly integrates the English National Curriculum (ENC) with key elements of the Chinese National Curriculum (CNC), providing students with the essential knowledge and skills to become globally-minded citizens of the 21st century.

The structured English National Curriculum at BMIS provides a strong academic foundation, focusing on core subjects such as English, Mathematics, and Science. Our curriculum is designed to ensure that students gain mastery in English, while also fostering proficiency in Mandarin and Thai, preparing them for success in an interconnected world. Additionally, the curriculum allows for flexibility, incorporating subjects like Art, Music, Geography, and History, all of which are essential for developing well-rounded individuals.

At BMIS, we enrich the learning experience by incorporating STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education across multiple subjects, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The thematic, project-based approach to learning brings subjects to life, starting with engaging events such as field trips, expert talks, or problem-solving challenges. Students then explore the theme over weeks, experimenting and acquiring knowledge, concluding with a celebration of their work through presentations, reports, or exhibitions.

In addition to our British curriculum, BMIS students also engage in elements of the Chinese National Curriculum, with a strong focus on Mandarin Chinese language proficiency. Students develop their skills in Mandarin through a comprehensive language programme, aiming for proficiency levels such as HSK 3 by Primary 3 and HSK 4 by Primary 6. Furthermore, our unique Mandarin-based approach integrates Chinese teaching in subjects like Mathematics and Science, providing students with a truly bilingual academic experience.

Students at BMIS also benefit from lessons in Modern Chinese Philosophy, the Child-Entrepreneur mindset, and our Mandarin Rising STEAM programme, which includes cutting-edge topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Coding. These elements encourage independent thinking, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills, preparing students for future challenges and opportunities.
